Members meet regularly in small groups to share ideas, and learn more about their common or special interests. If one (or more) of these groups appeals to you, call or email the group coordinator for details. Events for all interest groups are described in The Messenger newsletter. If you are interested in starting a program, contact a board member.

MORNING BOOK GROUP

books

Members meet at 10:00 AM on the third Monday of each month. The group focuses primarily on fiction. Discussion leader responsibilities are rotated. Meetings are held in a conference room at the Sally Griffin Center, 700 Jewell Avenue, Pacific Grove.

JOY OF READING BOOK CLUB

Members meet at 2:00 PM on the second Tuesday of each month. Discussion leader and host responsibilities are rotated.

BANNED BOOK READING CLUBS

This book club will read and discuss books from the American Library Association and PEN/America lists of banned/challenged books. The meetings will be held on the second Thursday of each month at 2:00 PM.

GREAT DECISIONS

A-interestGroups

Members meet once a week for eight weeks starting in January to discuss the role citizens can play in discovering, discussing and deciding how some of the world’s greatest challenges can be met. Discussions are based on prepared reading materials distributed prior to the meetings. Members are responsible to lead the discussion of one of the topics and contribute additional information to enhance the discussion.

HIKING GROUP

Members meet during the year to plan walks/hikes at local sites. The walks are usually on Garland GroupWednesday mornings twice a month. Sometimes an optional lunch is included.  About a week before each hike, the hike leader will send out more detailed information to participants including the degree of difficulty of the hike.  If you are interested in receiving this additional information, please contact the Hike Coordinator below.

Committee members meet once a year to plan monthly fun outings and excursions that all AAUW members and guests can sign up for. The adventure is usually followed by an optional lunch at a nearby restaurant.
